METAL

Heavy metal (or simply metal) is a genre of rock music that developed in the late 1960s and early 1970s, largely in the United Kingdom. With roots in blues rock, psychedelic rock, and acid rock, the bands that created heavy metal developed a thick, massive sound, characterized by highly amplified distortion, extended guitar solos, emphatic beats, and overall loudness. The genre’s lyrics and performance styles are sometimes associated with aggression and machismo.

This definition comes straight from Wikipedia. So don’t scream at us on having the definition all wrong! The definition says “highly amplified distortion, extended guitar solos, emphatic beats, and overall loudness” like these are BAD things. Some of us happen to LOVE these things. These are the EXACT things that made our parents yell “turn that down, I can’t hear myself think!” Never understood what that meant (until we were parents:)) Also, the definition says the Metal began in the United Kingdom. What about Ozzy, Led Zepplin, Iron Maiden, and Def Leppard? Oh wait, never mind. Mad props UK.
