Derek Pellicci

About

Derek Pellicci is the English born, Australian based drummer and singer songwriter best known as a founding member of Little River Band, the group he helped launch in 1975 after years playing Melbourne clubs in bands including Mississippi. Pellicci anchored the rhythm section through the band's biggest run of hits, playing on all thirteen of Little River Band's Top 40 US singles, recording "Time Exposure" in Montserrat with Beatles producer George Martin, and touring internationally before stepping away from the road following a 1997 tour.

In 2026 Pellicci returned to music as a solo artist, releasing three albums in a single year including "Welcome To The Human Race" and "Il Profeta." The latter is a family project built with his son, Joel Pellicci, who serves as Derek's creative partner on the work, shaping the album's musical direction, curating its tracklist, designing its cover art, and directing the music video for "The Universe Conceives." Derek and Anne Pellicci's son Joel was born in 1985 during the family's years in Los Angeles, and the father son collaboration now carries Derek's decades as one of Australian rock's most recognizable drummers into a new creative chapter.
