Adam Clayton is an English-Irish musician best known as the bassist of U2, one of rock music's most enduring and influential bands. Born in Oxfordshire, England in 1960, Clayton moved to County Dublin, Ireland at age five, settling in Malahide. His musical journey began at Mount Temple Comprehensive School, where he met the schoolmates with whom he would co-found U2 in 1976. Since the band's inception, Clayton has been a foundational member, anchoring the group's sound with his bass work across their evolution from post-punk innovators to stadium rock titans.

Over a career spanning decades, Clayton has recorded 15 studio albums with U2, establishing himself as a musician whose bass lines have become synonymous with some of rock's most iconic moments. His consistent presence as the band's bassist since their formation has made him integral to U2's identity and their influence on global popular music.
