Alan O'Day is an American singer-songwriter who achieved remarkable success as both a performer and prolific hitmaker. His breakthrough came in 1977 with "Undercover Angel," a million-selling Gold-certified track that reached No. 1 on the American charts and established him as a major force in pop music. Beyond his own recording career, O'Day proved himself an exceptional songwriter for other artists, most notably penning Helen Reddy's 1974 No. 1 hit "Angie Baby" and contributing to the composition of "Rock and Roll Heaven." His distinctive talent for crafting memorable pop songs demonstrated a deep understanding of what resonates with audiences.

Throughout his career, O'Day's creative reach extended far beyond traditional pop music into television and international collaborations. In the 1980s, he shifted his focus to children's entertainment, co-writing nearly 100 songs for the Saturday morning series Muppet Babies. Later, he wrote and performed music for the National Geographic series Really Wild Animals in the 1990s. O'Day also found considerable success in Japan, collaborating with singer-songwriter Tatsuro Yamashita on a series of popular songs including "Your Eyes," "Magic Ways," "Christmas Eve," and "Fragile."
