About
Arashi is a Japanese boy band that was officially formed on September 15, 1999, in Honolulu, Hawaii, and debuted just weeks later on November 3, 1999. Comprising five members—Satoshi Ohno, Sho Sakurai, Masaki Aiba, Kazunari Ninomiya, and Jun Matsumoto—the group was signed to Johnny & Associates, one of Japan's most prominent entertainment companies. Initially released under Pony Canyon, where they delivered their eponymous debut single and several early releases, Arashi's career trajectory shifted significantly in 2001 when they moved to J Storm, a Johnny's subsidiary label created specifically to support their continued growth and artistic development.
Over the years, Arashi has built an extraordinary catalog that reflects their staying power in the music industry. The group's discography spans 17 studio albums, six compilation albums, one extended play, and 58 singles, demonstrating their prolific output and consistent relevance. Their extensive body of work has solidified their status as one of Japan's most successful musical acts, earning them a devoted fanbase and establishing a lasting legacy within the Japanese music landscape.
