About
Barry Harris is a Canadian record producer, DJ, remixer, singer, and songwriter who created the synth-pop project Kon Kan in early 1988 in Toronto, Ontario. Emerging during the height of the 1980s electronic music era, Harris conceived and formed Kon Kan as a vehicle for exploring the infectious possibilities of synthesizer-driven pop. Kon Kan achieved significant commercial and critical success, earning a 1990 Juno Award for the irresistible hit single "I Beg Your Pardon," which became the project's signature song. The act continued its momentum with additional singles including "Harry Houdini," "Move to Move," and "Puss N' Boots," the latter earning a 1991 Juno Award nomination alongside "These Boots Are Made for Walkin'." Through these memorable tracks and his innovative production work, Barry Harris left an indelible mark on Canadian pop music, showcasing the enduring appeal of well-crafted synth-pop during one of the genre's most vibrant periods.
