About

Patricia Eva "Bonnie" Pointer was born in Oakland, California, and became a founding member of one of music's most celebrated vocal groups, the Pointer Sisters. As an R&B and disco artist, Bonnie helped establish the group's distinctive sound and contributed to their early success. In 1977, she embarked on a solo career, stepping away from the ensemble to pursue her own musical direction. This transition marked a significant moment in her artistic journey, allowing her to explore her talents as both a singer and songwriter in her own right.

Bonnie's solo work demonstrated her versatility and commercial appeal, earning her several moderate hits during the late 1970s and into the 1980s. Her disco cover of "Heaven Must Have Sent You," originally recorded by the Elgins, became her most successful solo single, peaking at number 11 on the charts in September 1979. Through her work with the Pointer Sisters and her solo endeavors, Bonnie left an indelible mark on R&B and disco music, showcasing the vocal artistry and innovation that defined her career and influenced generations of musicians.
