Chris Farlowe is an English rock, blues and blue-eyed soul singer born John Henry Deighton on October 13, 1940. His breakthrough came when he moved to Andrew Loog Oldham's Immediate label, where he recorded eleven singles that showcased his powerful vocal delivery across multiple genres. Farlowe's association with iconic bands including the Thunderbirds, Atomic Rooster, and Colosseum established him as a versatile and respected voice in the rock and blues landscape of the 1960s and beyond.
Farlowe is best known for his rendition of "Out of Time," written by Mick Jagger and Keith Richards, which reached No. 1 on the UK Singles Chart in 1966. During his time with the Immediate label, he demonstrated his interpretive gifts through covers of Rolling Stones material including "Paint It Black," "Think," "Ride On, Baby," and "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction." His distinctive approach to these songs and his original work left an indelible mark on rock and soul music, cementing his legacy as a gifted interpreter of blues-influenced material and a significant figure in the evolution of British rock.
