Clinton Raymond Holmes was a British-born singer-songwriter and entertainer whose talent transcended multiple performance mediums. Originally a vocal music student at Fredonia State College, Holmes served three years with the United States Army Chorus during the Vietnam War (1967-1969) before launching his civilian career singing in Washington, D.C. nightclubs. He achieved breakthrough success with his hit single "Playground in My Mind," which introduced his distinctive artistry to American audiences. Holmes passed away in 2024. His career embodied the versatility of a true entertainer, moving fluidly between recording artist, live performer, and television personality.

Beyond his recording success, Holmes became a celebrated Las Vegas entertainer, establishing himself as a commanding stage presence known for his engaging performances. In 1991, he expanded into broadcasting by hosting "New York at Night," a talk show on WWOR in New York City that earned him a local Emmy Award during its year-long run. His theatrical work earned recognition from major publications, with The New York Times reviewing his 1996 one-man show "Comfortable Shoes." Throughout his career, Holmes demonstrated a commitment to the craft of live entertainment and storytelling, leaving a legacy as a skilled performer who connected authentically with audiences across multiple artistic disciplines.
