About

Crystal Waters is an American house and dance music singer and songwriter whose career took flight during the vibrant dance music boom of the 1990s. Born November 19, 1961, in Deptford Township, New Jersey, Waters emerged from a musical family as the daughter of jazz musician Junior Waters. Her breakthrough arrived with infectious dance anthems that captured the energy of club culture and radio airwaves alike. With her distinctive vocal style and knack for crafting irresistible hooks, Waters quickly established herself as a defining voice in house and dance music during one of the genre's most creatively fertile periods.

Waters' legacy rests on a remarkable string of chart successes and industry recognition. Her signature hits "Gypsy Woman" and "100% Pure Love" became cultural touchstones of 1990s dance music, while her 2007 collaboration with Alex Gaudino on "Destination Calabria" proved her staying power across decades. All three of her studio albums produced Top 40 hits on the Billboard Hot 100, and she has accumulated twelve No. 1 Billboard Dance Chart hits alongside four Billboard Music Awards, three American Music Award nominations, an MTV Video Music Award nomination, and six ASCAP Songwriter awards. With over 7 million records sold worldwide, Waters' influence extends far beyond her own releases: "Gypsy Woman" alone has been sampled hundreds of times. In December 2016, Billboard magazine ranked her among the most successful dance artists of all time.
