About

David Lee Roth, known as "Diamond Dave," was an American rock singer whose wild and energetic stage persona became legendary in hard rock history. He first rose to prominence as the lead vocalist of Van Halen, joining the band in 1974 and helping to define their sound through the early 1980s. Roth's charismatic performances and commanding presence on stage made him one of rock music's most distinctive frontmen. He passed away in 2024. Beyond his work with Van Halen, Roth built a successful solo career that saw him release eight albums, with four achieving RIAA Gold or Platinum certification.

Roth's impact on rock music extended far beyond his tenure with Van Halen. His solo hits including "California Girls," "Yankee Rose," and "Just Like Paradise" found significant success in the late 1980s, showcasing his versatility as a performer. After more than two decades apart, Roth rejoined Van Halen in 2006 for a North American tour that became the highest-grossing in the band's history and one of the year's most successful tours. His contributions to rock music were formally recognized in 2007 when he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Van Halen, cementing his legacy as one of hard rock's most influential vocalists.
