Gerald Levert

About

Gerald Levert was an American singer-songwriter and producer born into R&B royalty as the son of Eddie Levert, legendary lead singer of the O'Jays. Early in his career, he emerged as a vital force in contemporary R&B, performing with his brother Sean Levert and friend Marc Gordon in the vocal group LeVert. His collaborative spirit extended beyond his family project, as he later became a key member of LSG, a supergroup that united him with R&B titans Keith Sweat and Johnny Gill. Through these ventures and his solo work, Levert established himself as a multifaceted artist capable of commanding both group harmonies and individual artistry.

Throughout his prolific career, Gerald Levert left an indelible mark on R&B, releasing nine solo albums alongside six recordings with LeVert, two collaborative projects with his father, and two albums as part of LSG. Beyond his own recordings, Levert demonstrated an ear for emerging talent and played a crucial role in discovering and nurturing rising R&B groups including The Rude Boys, Men at Large, and 1 of the Girls. His ability to blend smooth vocals with sophisticated production cemented his status as one of R&B's most respected voices, bridging the legacy of the O'Jays with the contemporary sound of his generation.
