Dennis David Coles, known professionally as Ghostface Killah, rose to prominence as a cornerstone member of the legendary hip-hop collective Wu-Tang Clan. Following the group's breakthrough success with Enter the Wu-Tang, Ghostface launched a solo career that would establish him as one of hip-hop's most distinctive voices. His stage name, inspired by a character from the 1979 kung fu film The Mystery of Chess Boxing, reflects the group's deep connection to martial arts cinema and philosophy.
