About

Elgin Baylor Lumpkin, known professionally as Ginuwine, emerged as a defining voice in modern R&B after cutting his teeth as a member of the musical collective Swing Mob in the early 1990s. His breakthrough came in 1996 with the release of his debut single "Pony," which climbed to number six on the Billboard Hot 100 and announced his arrival as a solo force. That same year, his debut studio album Ginuwine...the Bachelor arrived to critical acclaim, earning double platinum certification from the RIAA and establishing him as a major talent in contemporary R&B.

Following his successful debut, Ginuwine continued to build his legacy with a string of commercially successful albums. His second and third studio albums, 100% Ginuwine (1999) and The Life (2001), both cracked the top five of the Billboard 200 chart. The Life particularly showcased his artistic growth, spawning the single "Differences," which became his highest-charting song to date at number four on the Billboard Hot 100. With more than 6.98 million albums sold throughout his career and eight studio albums to his name, Ginuwine has solidified his place as a cornerstone of R&B music.
