About

Jimmie Dale Gilmore is a country singer-songwriter born May 6, 1945, in Amarillo, Texas, and raised in Lubbock. His musical foundation was shaped by the rich Texas musical landscape of the 1950s, where he absorbed the emerging rock and roll of fellow Texans Roy Orbison and Buddy Holly, alongside the groundbreaking sounds of Johnny Cash and Elvis Presley, whom he witnessed performing together at a concert in Lubbock's Fair Park Coliseum in 1955. The 1960s deepened his artistic sensibility through his profound influence by The Beatles, Bob Dylan, and the folk music and blues revival of that era. After relocating to Austin in the 1980s, Gilmore released his first solo album, "Fair & Square," in 1988, marking the beginning of his sustained recording career.

Over the decades, Gilmore has built an impressive discography comprising 9 studio albums, 1 live album, 2 compilations, 2 EPs, and 6 singles. His compositions have been performed on numerous albums by other artists, extending his creative influence across the country music landscape. Living in Austin, Texas, Gilmore continues to represent the rich traditions of Texas songwriting while maintaining his own distinctive artistic voice. His career reflects a deep commitment to the craft of song and the enduring power of country music as a vehicle for authentic human expression.
