Jeffrey Jermaine Thompkins, known professionally as JT Money, is an American rapper from Miami, Florida, whose career took shape during the city's most vibrant era of hip hop innovation. As the lead member of the influential hip hop group Poison Clan, JT Money found his footing in the early 1990s after signing with Luke Records in 1990 under the mentorship of Luther "Luke" Campbell, a fellow Miami native who recognized his talent and potential. Throughout the decade, he refined his craft and built a reputation as a distinctive voice in Southern rap, contributing to several notable releases with Poison Clan that showcased the group's creative evolution.

JT Money's breakthrough moment arrived with his 1999 debut studio album, Pimpin' on Wax, which introduced him to a wider audience and demonstrated his solo artistry. The album's lead single, "Who Dat", became a significant commercial success, climbing to number five on the Billboard Hot 100 and cementing his place in hip hop history. His work reflected the authentic Miami sound that defined an era, and his contributions to both Poison Clan and his solo career helped shape the landscape of Southern rap during a transformative period in the genre's development.
