Kendall Payne was a singer-songwriter born in Santa Monica, California and raised in Malibu who built a career rooted in both intimate artistry and spiritual devotion. She signed with Capitol Records as a teenager, releasing her debut album Jordan's Sister in 1999, which introduced her distinctive voice to a growing audience. Payne passed away in 2018. Over the following years, she transitioned to independent releases, crafting albums that reflected her evolving artistic vision while maintaining the emotional authenticity that defined her work. Her genre-blending approach drew from contemporary folk, pop, and worship traditions, establishing her as a thoughtful voice in the singer-songwriter landscape.

Throughout her career, Payne released a substantial body of work including notable albums such as Grown (2004), executive produced by her friend Zachary Levi, and Paper Skin (2007), alongside worship and holiday projects. She earned recognition not just as a recording artist but as a live performer, spending two years touring with Sarah McLachlan on the celebrated Lilith Fair while also sharing stages with accomplished artists including Dido, Third Day, Switchfoot, and Delirious?. In her later years, Payne channeled her musical gifts into ministry, serving as Senior Director of Contemporary Worship at Bel Air Church from 2014 to 2018. Her legacy reflects a commitment to authenticity, spiritual expression, and the timeless power of the singer-songwriter tradition.
