Mohandas Dewese, known professionally as Kool Moe Dee, emerged as one of hip hop's most influential voices during the genre's formative years. Rising to prominence in the 1980s as a member of the Treacherous Three, one of rap music's pioneering groups, Kool Moe Dee helped establish the foundation upon which modern hip hop would be built. His distinctive style and lyrical prowess made him a cornerstone of early rap, and he would go on to become recognized as one of the forerunners of the New Jack Swing sound that would dominate hip hop in the decade ahead. His transition from group member to solo artist marked a significant chapter in his artistic evolution.

Throughout his solo career, Kool Moe Dee demonstrated remarkable range and staying power, releasing five studio albums that showcased his growth as an artist. His discography includes the albums Kool Moe Dee (1986), How Ya Like Me Now (1987), Knowledge Is King (1989), Funke, Funke Wisdom (1991), and Interlude (1994), along with numerous singles that cemented his place in hip hop history.
