Catharina "Nina" Hagen was a German singer, songwriter, and actress who became a towering figure in punk and new wave music during the late 1970s and early 1980s. Rising to prominence with her theatrical vocals and fearless artistic vision, she earned the distinction of being called "The Godmother of German Punk." Hagen passed away in 2022. Her early work with the Nina Hagen Band, beginning in 1978, established her as a vital force in the emerging punk scene, while her subsequent albums like "Unbehagen" and "NunSexMonkRock" showcased her evolution as both a musician and performer. Her bold approach to songwriting and performance set her apart from her contemporaries and helped define the sound of a generation.

Throughout her prolific career, Hagen released 17 studio albums, 25 compilation albums, one soundtrack album, and numerous extended plays, demonstrating her enduring creative output and commitment to her craft. Notable works including "Fearless/Angstlos" and "Nina Hagen in Ekstasy/In Ekstase" exemplified her distinctive artistic approach and willingness to push boundaries. Her influence extended far beyond punk and the Neue Deutsche Welle movement, as she became a pioneering voice for women in rock music and experimental performance art.
