About

Peter Green was an English blues rock singer-songwriter and guitarist who founded Fleetwood Mac in 1967, one of the most influential bands in rock history. After cutting his teeth as a member of John Mayall's Bluesbreakers, Green established Fleetwood Mac as both a dynamic live act and a commercially successful recording ensemble before departing in 1970. He passed away on 25 July 2020. His distinctive approach to blues guitar and his gift for crafting memorable songs helped define the sound of late 1960s British blues rock during a pivotal moment in the genre's evolution.

Green's compositions showcased his remarkable range as a songwriter, from the haunting instrumental "Albatross" to powerful vocal-driven tracks like "Black Magic Woman," "Oh Well," "Man of the World," and "The Green Manalishi (With the Two Prong Crown)." These songs became classics that endured long after his departure from Fleetwood Mac, cementing his status as a foundational figure in blues rock. Through his work as both a bandleader and songwriter, Green left an indelible mark on popular music, influencing generations of musicians and establishing a template for how blues tradition could be transformed into unforgettable modern rock.
