About

Randall Stuart Newman is an American singer-songwriter, pianist, composer, and arranger born in Los Angeles to an extended family of Hollywood film composers. He emerged as a distinctive artist with the release of his first solo album in 1968, establishing himself through his Americana-inspired songs delivered in his characteristic non-rhotic Southern accent. Newman's lyrical style sets him apart, featuring mordant and satirical observations often narrated by unreliable characters, creating a compelling and uniquely personal artistic voice that continues to captivate listeners.

Since the 1990s, Newman has focused increasingly on film scoring, becoming particularly renowned for his award-winning work with Disney and Pixar studios. His acclaimed film compositions include *Ragtime*, *The Natural*, *Toy Story*, *A Bug's Life*, *Pleasantville*, *Monsters, Inc.*, *Cars*, *The Princess and the Frog*, *Toy Story 3*, and *Marriage Story*. Throughout his career, Newman has released eleven solo studio albums alongside live and compilation recordings, establishing himself as a master craftsman whose contributions span both intimate songwriting and expansive orchestral film work, cementing his legacy as one of music's most thoughtful and versatile artists.
