William Ray Norwood Jr., professionally known as Ray J, is an American R&B singer, rapper, songwriter, television presenter, and actor born in McComb, Mississippi and raised in Carson, California. The younger brother of celebrated singer and actress Brandy, Ray J emerged onto the music scene in 1997 with his debut single "Let It Go," released by EastWest Records for a film soundtrack. The track became a moderate hit, climbing into the top 40 of the Billboard Hot 100 chart and establishing Ray J as a rising voice in R&B. That same year, he released his debut studio album, "Everything You Want," which charted on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums list, signaling the arrival of a talented new artist ready to make his mark.
