Steve Hackett
About
Stephen Richard Hackett is an English guitarist who rose to prominence as the lead guitarist of the progressive rock band Genesis from 1971 to 1977. During his tenure with the group, he contributed to six studio albums, three live albums, seven singles, and one EP, helping to define the sound of one of rock's most adventurous and influential bands. Remarkably, Hackett began his solo career while still a Genesis member, releasing his debut album "Voyage of the Acolyte" in 1975. His arrival as Genesis's guitarist marked a turning point in the band's creative evolution, bringing a distinctive voice to their progressive rock vision.
Following his departure from Genesis in 1977, Hackett established himself as a versatile and prolific solo artist, exploring many musical styles throughout his career. His collaborative work with fellow guitarist Paul Carmassi in the group GTR yielded significant commercial success, with their self-titled album reaching No. 11 on the Billboard 200 and spawning the Top 20 single "When the Heart Rules the Mind." Hackett's extensive body of work showcases his range and dedication to musical innovation. In recognition of his artistic contributions, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Genesis in 2010, cementing his legacy as one of progressive rock's most important guitarists.
