Steven Siro Vai is an American guitarist, songwriter, and producer whose virtuosic artistry has defined modern instrumental rock. Beginning his professional journey in 1978 at eighteen as a transcriptionist for the visionary Frank Zappa, Vai gained formative experience working within Zappa's band from 1980 to 1983. This crucial apprenticeship under one of rock's most innovative minds set the stage for his solo career, which he launched in 1983. Vai's technical mastery and creative vision quickly established him as a guitarist of extraordinary caliber, blending technical precision with expressive depth that would influence generations of musicians.

A three-time Grammy Award winner and fifteen-time nominee, Vai has released eleven studio albums and created an expansive discography spanning live recordings, soundtracks, and compilations. His debut solo album Flex-Able arrived in 1984, while his landmark 1990 release Passion and Warfare remains his most successful work. Beyond his prolific solo output, Vai has recorded and toured with legendary artists including David Lee Roth, Whitesnake, Alcatrazz, and Alice Cooper, while also participating in celebrated touring experiences like G3, Zappa Plays Zappa, and the Experience Hendrix Tour.
