Cinco de Mayo (Spanish for “Fifth of May”) is a holiday commemorating the Mexican army’s 1862 victory over French forces at the Battle of Puebla, symbolizing unity and resistance against foreign domination. While it is not a major holiday in Mexico, the US seems to get it’s party on today…and it’s TACO TUESDAY!
So, celebrate the only way we know how in the States. Drink too much and call in sick.
