About
Jenny Lewis is an American singer-songwriter and actress who has built a remarkable career spanning multiple decades and creative disciplines. She first gained prominence in the 1980s as a child actress, appearing in films like *Troop Beverly Hills* and *The Wizard*, both released in 1989, as well as the television series *Brooklyn Bridge*. In the mid-1990s, Lewis made the pivotal decision to semi-retire from acting and dedicate herself to music. In 1998, she formed the indie rock band Rilo Kiley with fellow former child actor Blake Sennett, establishing herself as the group's lead singer, rhythm guitarist, and keyboardist. This transition marked the beginning of her influential presence in the indie rock landscape.
Beyond her work with Rilo Kiley, Lewis has built a substantial solo career, releasing five albums that showcase her evolution as a songwriter and artist. Her solo discography includes *Rabbit Fur Coat* (2006), *Acid Tongue* (2008), *The Voyager* (2014), and *On the Line*, among others. Through both her band work and solo ventures, Lewis has established herself as a significant figure in indie rock, demonstrating a versatility and artistic commitment that has earned her respect within the music community and contributed meaningfully to the genre's development.
