Hello friends! This is Rob writing today and I’m going to take a second to step out from behind the curtain to make a statement. My father always shared the wisdom to not argue with a fool. I TRY to practice this every day and sometimes things just bubble up and I can’t help myself.
We played the recent song from the New Radicals called “Murder On The Dancefloor.” TWO different “listeners” on our YouTube channel tried to argue with me that this version of the song wasn’t new. I kindly said it was really a cover. I was then “corrected” with them saying it wasn’t a cover, nor new. So, I finally had enough day and had to respond. Here is the coversation.
@goforho7257
This isn’t new. There have been snippets of this on YouTube for years recorded during the Maybe I’ve Been Brainwashed era.
@lobohobo9218
Umm, this isn’t new. It’s sounds like a crummy old demo.
@mastersradio
It’s a cover.
@lobohobo9218
Umm, no this is the original…
@mastersradio
Respectfully, you and lobohobo need to do your research before trying to make a comment:) This version of this song is an original COVER of the song that was written by NR frontman, Gregg Alexander and Sophie Ellis-Bextor and produced by Alexander and Matt Rowe for Ellis-Bextor’s first album, Read My Lips (2001). The song was recently featured in the movie Saltburn where it re-entered the charts. THIS VERSION is an official cover recorded by NR for Doug Emhoff, first gentleman married to Kamala Harris, for the recent election. When you boys want to play music trivia, please do your research first. Otherwise, I’m going to have to school you again! You are messing with a MASTER!!!!
Was I too harsh? Probably. Do I care? Not in the least. I could be completely wrong with my information. I’m not. I also probably could have been nicer. Nah. Sometimes, people need to sit down and just listen. If they are trying to correct someone without the proper information, I have NO patience. Sorry, I feel much better now that I’ve vetted. Back to never arguing with fools.
Rob
