Extreme exploded out of Boston in the late 1980s with a blend of funk metal, melodic rock, and virtuosic musicianship led by guitarist Nuno Bettencourt and vocalist Gary Cherone. Known worldwide for the acoustic smash More Than Words, the band has always balanced musicianship with songwriting that pushes beyond traditional hard rock formulas.
