Richard Ashcroft Still Doesn’t Need Permission to Feel Things

Richard Ashcroft has never been one for half-measures, and “Lovin You” is proof that subtlety is overrated. It’s grand, cinematic, and unapologetically earnest — because when Ashcroft decides to sing about love, he doesn’t whisper it into the void; he climbs a mountain and shouts it through a cathedral of reverb. The man could probably make a grocery list sound spiritual.

“Lovin You” is all swagger and sincerity, the kind of song that reminds you why he’s still one of the most magnetic voices in British rock. It’s not about reinventing himself — it’s about doubling down on what he does best: turning raw emotion into something that sounds like redemption.
